Mr. Paolo Usseglio
Research Technician, Coastal Programme

Mr. Paolo Usseglio is a marine scientist from the Universidad National de Costa Rica and currently the Field Project Manager for the UNU-INWEH Coastal Programme. He did his Masters degree at the University of Windsor, Canada under the supervision of Dr. Peter F. Sale. His research focused on the effects of habitat on the recruitment patterns of several coral reef fish along the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System. His previous work with UNU-INWEH included setting up and conducting recruitment monitoring workshops aimed at training personnel on the Mesoamerican region. His experience is extensive in assessing fish and corals and training personnel in the use of the various methodologies employed. He has also developed management plans aimed at reducing the impacts of tourism. He brings fish ecology knowledge to the project, as well as practical experience in undertaking field research programs.
