People are Knowledge is a film made during the course of a research project that explored how alternate methods of citation could be employed on Wikipedia. The film documents a series of specific situations with regards to published knowledge, and, subsequently, with oral citations. Credits: Priya Sen, Zen Marie, Achal Prabhala.
The Hive – a knowledge platform on Fragility, Conflict, and Violence (FCV) – will transform the way the global development community works in these situations by changing the way knowledge about these situations is generated, shared, and used. As (World Bank) World Development Report 2011 underscores, violence is a central barrier to human development across income levels and responses are compromised by lack of knowledge of context, of adaptable innovations, and of prevention across a multiplicity of variables. The Hive will convene the communities of practice within and outside the World Bank that presently work independently, and often in parallel, on FCV.

A workshop on Improving the impact of development research through better research communications and uptake [pdf] took place in London later in 2010. Facilitated by K* 2012 Steering Committee member and Conference Vice-Chair Louise Shaxson, one of the key partners in the K* initiative, it built on some of the approaches developed in the Montreal workshop
A Research Into Use discussion paper entitled "Beyond Knowledge Brokerage: An explorative study of innovation intermediaries in an evolving smallholder agricultural system in Kenya" presents findings of an examination of 22 organizations identified as occupying an intermediary role in the Kenyan agricultural sector.
