Dr. Bhim Adhikari
Project Officer (Dryland Ecosystems)

Bhim Adhikari is an environmental social scientist with expertise on the poverty-environment nexus, ecological economics, institutional analysis and community-based natural resource management. Before joining UNU, Bhim worked as a Research Fellow at the School of Natural Resources and Environment at the University of Michigan, USA. Prior to University of Michigan, he served as a Poverty and Livelihood Expert for IUCN-The World Conservation Union in Pakistan. Bhim also held the Economic and Social Research Council (UK) Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of York. From 1996 to 1999, he worked as an Environment Advisor with the Rural Energy Development Programme of UNDP in Nepal.

Bhim's research has appeared in Environment and Development Economics, Ecological Economics, Journal of Development Studies, Journal of Environmental Management, Forest Policy and Economics, European Journal of Development Research and African Journal of Ecology. He holds a PhD in Environmental Economics and Management from the University of York, UK.
